Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn a true hero. On Monday morning, 34-year-old Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane of the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) was tragically killed in the line of duty.
Benredouane, who joined the force in 2021, was responding to a critical shots-fired call in the Côte-des-Neiges district. Officers arrived at what reports describe as a targeted ambush near a hotel entrance. The gunman opened fire from a window, killing Officer Benredouane and a civilian bystander, and injuring another officer. The suspect was neutralized at the scene.
Officer Benredouane died protecting the public. We pull strength from his dedication and send our deepest prayers to his family and colleagues. Fallen, but never forgotten.
